Way To Go Charters

Alaska revealed to you by its best kept secret - Capt. Wally Shumway

Frequently Asked Questions

What should I wear ?

Wear clothes in layers, preparing for easy disrobing should the sun warm you and easy

dressing when weather turns cold.   Water proof foot wear and rain gear is also a very

good idea.

What should I bring?

A camera, lunch, drinks, snacks and warm clothing.  Don't forget your Fishing License.

We provide all the fishing tackle, gear and bait.

What do I do when I get on the boat?

Listen to your Captain and the Deck Hands.  They will teach and show you

everything you'll need to know.

When is Salmon Season and when do they run?

We are usually catching Salmon beginning about the 15th of June through the end of August.

Am I going to catch a "Big" fish?

You might.  There are no guarantees to fishing in Alaska.  You could be catching fish all day

long and your buddy right next to you could get "Skunked."   That's why it's called "fishing,"

not "catching."

What do we do with our fish?

We will fillet or dress your fish then turn it over to a processor for

vacuum packing, flash freezing and storage.    Arrangements can be

made to have your fish shipped so it arrives when you return home.

We like to recommend Captain Jack's to assist you.

Will I get sea sick?

If you are prone to motion sickness, we suggest you see your health care provider and

get a TransDerm Scopalamine Patch.  This is worn behind one ear and seems to work

well  for most people.
